Supply Chains, Ports & Indo-Pacific Trade Corridors

Supply Chains, Ports & Indo-Pacific Trade Corridors

THEME OVERVIEW

Trade corridors are not simply economic pathways; they are instruments of strategy, diplomacy, industrial policy, and regional stability. Ports, multimodal logistics systems, industrial clusters, and digital trade platforms are increasingly shaped by geopolitical competition, chokepoint vulnerabilities, climate risk, and infrastructure diplomacy.

This theme examines port-led development, corridor governance, and Indo-Pacific maritime cooperation as interconnected systems. Participants analyze how Quad coordination, ASEAN centrality, Indian Ocean security, and emerging Africa–India trade corridors influence infrastructure planning and supply chain resilience. By engaging real port ecosystems, multimodal corridors, and planning institutions, students explore how economic competitiveness intersects with maritime governance and regional power dynamics.

Through seminars, corridor mapping workshops, stakeholder dialogues, port ecosystem visits, geopolitical briefings, and resilience studios, participants produce faculty-assessable strategy briefs integrating logistics, governance, and geopolitical risk analysis.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Participants will:

  • Map multimodal supply chains (port–rail–road–warehouse–digital layer) using structured corridor frameworks.
  • Conduct process mapping and cost–time trade-off analysis in real logistics systems.
  • Analyze port-led development through industrial policy and geoeconomic lenses.
  • Evaluate Indo-Pacific maritime governance narratives including Quad cooperation, ASEAN frameworks, and Africa corridor engagement.
  • Assess chokepoint risks (Malacca, Hormuz), piracy zones, sanctions exposure, and climate vulnerabilities.
  • Produce a corridor strategy brief incorporating resilience, governance, and geopolitical considerations.
  • Develop a digital trade mini-case examining customs digitization, data governance, and logistics platforms.
