India’s Rise to Economic Stardom
India’s Rise to Economic Stardom
This program examines mental health as a systems, cultural, and public health issue rather than an isolated clinical concern. Students explore access, stigma, service-delivery constraints, and the national policy architecture through ethically framed observational learning.
The design anchors inquiry in India’s National Mental Health Programme and District Mental Health Programme frameworks, along with Tele MANAS as part of the emerging tele mental health infrastructure.
Students compare biomedical, psychosocial, and culturally embedded coping and healing frameworks using evidence-based first language and WHO-aligned safety standards. The program emphasizes systems literacy, ethical engagement, and analytical clarity.
Students will:
-
Understand mental health systems and pathways to care using NMHP and DMHP framing.
-
Analyze service delivery constraints across hospitals, clinics, and community settings.
-
Practice ethical observation standards, including confidentiality, consent, safeguarding, and the do no harm principle.
-
Compare biomedical, psychosocial, and culturally embedded coping models using evidence-based framing.
-
Examine how stigma, affordability, and infrastructure influence continuity of care.
-
Ask: How do mental health systems balance access, safety, and cultural sensitivity at scale?
-
Produce a structured mental health ecosystem map and analytic memo grounded in field observation.
